Hey my subs are now happy..i got rid of my sealed box and now running a ported box for my 3 12's..I have the old school JL 12w6's..they are 300w rms and 600w max...my ported box is about 6.5 cubic feet with 2 slot ports on bottom..firing toward the back of my SUV..with subs facing up...i had an estimate of how many DB's it could do..and man that did my install said 140's for sure..so i came in the following week to get it metered and he was right..it was in the 140's...not sure what mic...any questions or comments please reply....is it normal to have such a big jump in dbs for just a box change???..thats why i wrote this thread...just curious..thanks

who made the box? maybe they put the meter on steroids to make you have a good experience. word of mouth is a good form of advertisement //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

thanks for quick response...well my box dont move alot of air..cause i never go more than say 1/4 on volume..like 18 to 20 on my pioneer....when they metered it the whole..i mean the whole building was vibrating..it was sooo funny..i was in the waiting room and the plaques and stuff where moving...and the girl the secretary was like..."Is that loud enough"..i was like can you make it a liitle more louder and she said they were on full volume maxed out...with 1000w going to all 3 subs...which can handle 1800w...maybe i need to beef up my amp...maybe a nice 1000/1 or something.

the expierence wasnt for me i was in the waiting room while they did that...they just told me the final results

They have a policy were you cant be in the install room..unless they brought my car into the waiting room...its not my rule...all the shops i know are like that..its not like i have to see how much xmax my subs get..i know what they are capable of and i dont doubt what they said..they are professionals...anyway...i saw one of there cars they use for comps..its pretty cool..they got 4 18's and they won a deathmatch comp with 160.1 db for 5 minutes...i have never heard of deathmatch...i guess they do that...for 5 min..i was like woah

my boy had 1 ppi 21400 om 3 w6v1 yrs ago and he was flexing metal

so if got a orion 1200d or a ed nine.1 or a ia20.1 to really get the juices flowing

and run it down to 1 ohm u should be good 2 go

I don't take my ride to a shop that I can't watch the install. Have seen too many peeps pay outrages prices for work that was promised and not performed, or inferior work was done.

hmmm what kindof person doesnt let someone see what they're doin to their car?....i know every car i've worked on the people have been standing right there...i bet theres probably some ghetto riged shit in there somewhere

first post in a month woo hoo

wtf? is this a joke or something?
they were metering subs, not performing an operation.

why were you in "the waiting room"?

I doubt they did 140's... lol

That is stupid they don't let you back there. Ain't nothing that could hurt you. Mechanic shops let me stand underneath my car and other cars with tools and crap all over the place, wires and air compressor tubing all over for me to trip on or possibly have a jack screw up and a car come down on my head. But they still let me come in the garage and watch and shit. Those audio shops just do half-*** work when they don't let you see. I know of like 2 out of 5 places aroud me that let you watch.

Thats what gets me..why wouldnt they let me into the shop...i know my auto mechanic lets me do what ever i want...but my car audio shop..i dunno...its like they have one door from the waiting room to the shop and it has no windows or nothing and they always keep it closed..so what i did is i want outside to the garage doors which they keep open all the time BUT they have a chain link fence blocking so you cant go in..WTF...but i can see everything they are doing to my car..it was up close...when they metered it...they did what they did and showed me the numbers on the lap top and gave me a printed out sheet of what i hit...computer dont lie...its not like they typed in a number and said you hit 148db know what i mean...doesnt it have to be hooked up and reading some kind of db level...not sure...add something if not correct...what are some reason why they wouldnt let me in the shop??...maybe i should complain...i mean i dont wanna get on their bad side cause they are the only shop for miles...guess i will have to put up with what they say..i dunno..b-ball games were great last night...im out
