Sub box

Hello guys, I am planning on installing a sub on my truck soon and I need help. I’m planning on getting a JL audio 10W0v3-4 subwoofer. This subwoofer recommended sealed box size is .65 cubic feet and the box that I am planning on getting is .9 cubic feet. Will it be a problem that the subwoofer has all that extra air space or will it help the subwoofer and make it sound better?
Thank you

After displacement of the sub you should really close to spec

Shouldn't be a big issue. You can "shrink" the airspace by putting a solid object in there (ie a piece of 2x4). Make sure you anchor the object so it doesn't fly into the motor and damage the sub. If you .9 cuft to work with, you might consider looking as some 12s.

What other 12 in subs do you recommend? I was looking at the Skar VS-12 but the recommended sub box size is also .65 cuft

Dayton Audio Reference Series HF or HO. Alpine Type S. The SQL is a good option, but a little pricey. Image Dynamics ID if those are still available.
The Dayton ho subs really like a smaller than recommended box in a vehicle. Like the 10 does best is .4-.5 cuft. So a 12 wouldn't want a "big" box either

The 10" ho I used as a front sub in under a .5 cuft net box still played into the 30's with authority I had to cross it high with a hard slope for it to stay above the 50's 🤣
