New sub amd amp

I just got a new w3v2d4 and a mtx mxa 3002 amp, What would be the best way to wire this up.I tried to wire each voice coil to its own channel. It barely made any sound. I disconnected 1 voice coil and it slammed with only one hooked up. I mean it was waaaay louder. Whats the deal here.

First test the coils with a DMM to see if they're okay.

If they are then I would suggest you made a bit of a tactical error.

It is a major pain in the posterior to wire a DVC sub with one coil powered by an independent amp channel. It can be done but it is a pain.

Since you have a Dual 4 Ohm sub and a two channel amp your options are:

A) Wire each coil to its own amp channel. Again, getting this set up properly is possible but a pain to get right.

B) Wire the sub's coils in parallel for a 2 Ohm load, bridge the amp, and then likely watch the amp quickly go into protection as it isn't stable at 2 Ohms bridged. This is simply a possible course of action and not one I would suggest following.

C) Wire the sub's coils in series for an 8 Ohm load, bridge the amp to a single mono channel, and give the sub only half of the amp's bridged, 4 Ohm output rating.

You kinda need a monoblock amp or a Dual 2 Ohm sub. The two pieces of equipment you have now aren't particularly suited for a happy partnership.

Well I just tried to wire each coil to its own channel. But it barely put out any bass. When I wire each voice coil to its own channel it should be getting 150 watts rms to ech channel which would equal the 300 watts rms that jl recomends? What am i doing wrong here.

No I am not.I am not sure what you mean exactky, If you mean pos to pos and neg to neg. I have them hooked up right. And I am sure that the wires are not mixed up between voice coils, because i used 2 different color sets of wire.

also why is it twice as loud with only 1 voice coil hooked up to 1 channel. when i hook up the other coil to the other channel it gets super quite.
