New speakers for car..

I just got a 2001 lincoln ls and am looking to do some upgrades. I am looking for (4) 5x7s that will but out a good sound amped. I had amped infinity kappas in my last car and they did not seem to have much bass. I did not have a crossover box connected.

At the moment I do not plan to have a sub(s).

I plan on keeping the stock head unit.

What would be good 5x7s to go with?

i'd suggest gettin the 5.25 converter plates...components of course..it converts the 5x7 opening to 5.25 opening...

Its not so much the money im worried about. Although I do not want to spend more than i have to if using the stock head unit is going to prevent expensive speakers to sound better than cheap speakers....I am also going to need an amp.

Like i said before, I would like to not use a sub at all, but would still like some bass.

Depending on how much you want to spend on an amp, US Acoustics makes great "budget" equipment.

If i were to go with the SL80s, should i put them in all four doors or should i put different ones up front?

Honestly I'd probably only put them in front and leave the rears stock and ran off of the HU's power.

But, if you wanted to upgrade all your speakers, you could put them in all 4 doors.

Keeping in mind im not going to have a sub. I dont need sub bass. Will I still get bass and will it sound right with them just up front? I would atleast throw something other than the paper cones in the back, and amp them.

nah squeak is right...cause your rears are more or less just for fill in and stocks do that just fine and in a lincoln LS I'm sure they already have nice speakers.
