so i just installed my kx600.1 kicker amp. i have a 4gauge power wire/ground. everything has solid connections and there are no problems there. anyway when wiring my s10l7 in the sealed box, i wired the two positives together, and the two negatives together (2ohm load to my amp). in the back of the box there is a round circular piece that has a pos/neg jack. anyway i didnt have any clips to wire it to it, am i suppose to solder the pos/neg running from my DVC to the inside part of those jacks on the plastic piece...or is there some kind of clip or other thing i need for it?

anyway i unscrewed that round plastic piece, and then leaving me with a big hole in the back of my box approx. 3-4inch in diameter. is this why my subs arent loud at all? if i put that plastic piece back in to cover the hole would it slam louder?? right now my walmart pioneer setup was even louder than this its pathetic.

also on the amp the gain goes from 0-11 and i set it at what would be roughly 4 which was 2notches up, (10 oclock). my x over is set at around 75hz and i dont have the sub sonic filter turned on and also the bass boost is at 0.

I agree. Even a small hole can screw you over. :-\

And it also depends on how big your box is. My friends set up kicked butt when it was in his Blazer in a pretty large box, and now its in my truck with only .67 cubes per sub, and it wont get loud at all. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

yea i had the box custom made by this kicker authorized dealer...i never thought by taking out that piece and leaving a small whole there that there would be such a drastic difference? besides a ported box has holes i thought it would give better airflow

anyone ever have this problem where a hole etc would screw it up so much. i hope by putting it back in that i notice a huge difference...

ok i got these little clips at radio shack and wired them to the prongs. and i screwed in the plastic piece with the two terminals. once i fixed everything up, i turned it on and it still isnt really loud at all, unless i turn the bass boost up to like 6. shouldnt it be loud the way it is without touching the bass boost. whenever i turn that up it doesnt sound as clear, and either way this thing isnt thumping the way it should be.

i read in the manual that it takes two weeks to hear the best out of it after that its broken in. is that true? thanx.

No, not entirely, I think that you should try and have someone who is experienced take a look at it, Are there any holes at all in the box, air leaks in sealed boxes are not good, second is it wired properly check check and check again. Maybe you have a defunct dub, who knows, just keep messing with it

You should turn up your gain while playing music to see if it gets any louder. Also, if the sub wires are backwards then it wont be as loud. Like if you put the - wire on the + terminal and the + wire on the - terminal on the sub.

hey yea i got it to a decent level, but my gain is almost at 6...while my headunit is 4volts. arent i suppose to match it up to the hu. i can prob crank up the bass boost too for the added effect.

a friend told me not to expect much from this setup bc there isnt a hgue cone area. if i were to have 2 12" in a ported box that would be a diff story.

turn your treble, mid, and bass down, crank your head unit up to like 20-30(pioneer?) or as loud as you can stand your mids. then turn it down a little, fine tune your mids/highs, and then start adjusting the gain on the sub up until it distorts/sub starts to get squirrely. turn the gain down some and then mess with the bass boost. this should give you good all around sound, and might help make the sub a little louder.
