new ohms question?

Can't find an answer to this specific ohms scenario in my searches. I have the Alpine PDX 1000 amp. It's a mono-block but has two speaker channels. My subs are IDQ 4ohm DVC. I understand these speakers can be wired to 2 or 8 ohms each and if I had them wired to the same output they could be 1,4,16 ohms. What load does a mono amp see if you use both speaker outputs. Say for example each sub has the voice coils wired to 2ohms. If both outputs from the amp are used is the amp seeing 1,2,or 4ohms? Basically does the amp see the subs in series or parallel? Not sure if that makes sense and sorry if the answer is already out there and I just couldn't find it.

There is only one channel, just two places for easier wiring. If you wire each to two ohms, then use each terminal pair, you will be presenting a 1 ohm load to the amp.

as far as i know there arent any NEW ohms ( impedence ) questions.. just new ppl who dont understand ohms law

Thank you lilmaniac for taking the time to provide such a useful response. Your insight makes those of us new to this forum embarassed and apologetic for our inferiority.

Actually, I think I have a decent understanding of impedence and how series, parallel, and multiple speaker wiring affects the load the amps sees. I was just having a hard time figuring out what load a mono amp would see if two subs were wired to two speaker outputs that in reality represent one channel of output. Wasn't sure if it would double the load or cut it in half.

The way I understand it now, hooking each sub up individually to different terminals on the mono amp would be the same as wiring them parallel to one output terminal. With the speakers in the example they could be wired to a load of 1ohm or 4ohms if I use both output terminals.

It doesn't have two channels...you could wire the speaker to either set and wouldn't change anything.

Right. It is the same at 2 or 4. Basically I just want to make sure it doesn't see 1 ohm.
