new mtx's better than w7 ?

its not a load of poop, they are very close in performance

but this topic has been hit on many times, it would be much easier to do a search for MTX9500 vs JLW7 or something like that and you will get more info

Ive heard a setup with 2 MTX9500 10" Sledgehammers and yes! They are better subs. Those 2 10's took about 900 watts RMS a piece from a HiFonics Brutus amp. And hit harder than any other setup id heard from any company ever. It hit more like 15's or maybe even 18's and sounded crisp and clear, not boomy and slow like JL's w7's tend to be. Those are some very, vsery tough subs!! They take alot of power and have a 15-20 hour break in period. JL's are highly highly over rated by people who havnt expanded their brand name vocabulary. Talk to anyone who knows about competition, JL's are talked up way to much.

LOL...........so now ebay is an authoritative source?? I musta missed that memo........

I haven't played with the MTX 9500 yet, but all of the "tests" and "comparisons" I saw on MTX's website prove basically nothing. So I would take it with a grain of salt

i haven't heard any w7 installs in a car but my friend had a 9500 in a ported box i think 30-40 hz 3 cubes and it wanged prety **** hard but i wouldn't call it a sound quality sub the kid sold it to my other friend and he made his own "ported box" hahaha he doesn't even know what tuning is and let me tell u it sounds horrible moral of the story its all in the install i'd say it may have the capability to get louder

Oh my god, to be honest I wouldn't doubt it. I've been hearing some new MTXs and they not only slam but they have pretty dang good SQ too. Of course w7s are always a safe bet, but MTXs are very very very nice now.

I'd have to agree.

As far as which is a lower distortion driver, that's obvious: The W7. It's not even debatable. It's definitely the more accurate driver.

Which will people like more? That's a much different question.

It doesn't take a great deal of design scrutiny to realize why the 9500 is a higher distortion driver though.

"I heard jim-bob's MTX 9500 setup and it bumped good, but joe's w7 setup didn't bump as hard, so therefore the MTX 9500 is good and the W7 is bad."

This isn't the sort of logic or reason that intelligent people use. You don't base which is actually the more capable driver on some random installs that you heard. You must eliminate all other factors but the drivers to even make an accurate listening comparison, and again, that's still a fairly subjective test.

If you compare objective measures, the W7 wins across the board. Higher Xmax, higher Xsus, lower distortion, etc.

Lastly, if you think that the only reason someone might think the W7 is a better woofer is because they are "JL fanboys", or something similar idiotic stereotype of equally deficient logic, then I don't even know that you'd understand the explanation in the first place.

Objective analysis gives you only one conclusion as to the superior driver for musical performance: The W7.

Does it tell you which one Jim Bob likes best? Nope.

Verbal diarrhea.
