New KX Series Amplifiers, Anyone Tried Them?

So I know a lot of you on these boards like to bash Kicker, but while their subs are ****-poor, I've always thought pretty highly of their amplifiers. IMO, their KX series (of 6-7 years ago?) was their best line they produced. While browsing Sonicelectronix earlier, I noticed there's a new lineup of KX series amps. Unlike there ZX lineup of the last couple years, these have adjustable subsonic filters (yay), and a surprisingly small footprint. The 1600.1 is under 12 inches wide. It looks like a nice series of amps with a small footprint that can produce some pretty good power.

On to my question....

Has anyone here happened to try one of these out? I know there's a couple of you that own shops across the country, there's gotta be at least one or two of you who are Kicker dealers. Has anyone got a chance to bench test one or see them in action?

For anybody else, what are your thoughts on the this line?

Here's a link so you can check them out. Kicker KX1600.1 (40KX1600.1) Monoblock Class D Car Amplifier

Wouldn't consider that amp anywhere near that price tag, can easily get a better amp for 200$.

THD not stated anywhere, not even on kickers website.

Meh amp, kickers push their power.. but they are far from the most clean.

With that price tag and can get twice the power from a better company.

If they're rated anything like their previous series, than I would expect around 2000 watts out of the one I posted. And I don't think it's 100% about the power, but the size and the fact it does power at two ohms as well. On another note, I'm in the market for an amp that does 1500-2000 watts at 2 ohms, so please, since you say you know, what's that amp that will do that for $200? Because I've been looking, and it's been hard to find that kind of power for any less than about $450. BTW, I'm trying to do this in a 370Z, so I can't exactly use a Sundown 3500 or something that's two feet long.

MMats M2000.2D. Roughly the same size and a much better amp. More power, probably less distortion, much more efficient.

From all the experiences I've had with Kicker amps, they're solid. I've never used the new stuff though, so I can't comment on that one specifically.

What I can say though is that you can get a similarly sized amp with similar power for less. The Sundown 1500v.3 is pretty friggin small. Any of the new "mini" amps are probably smaller than that one. American Bass phantoms, PPi Phantoms, Massive Audio nano, SoundStream nano, etc.

I wasn't planning on getting this amp. I just saw it was new and figured I'd ask if anyone has got to play with one.

Reason I've been looking for that kind of power at 2 ohms is I'm wanting to design an enclosure over the summer to try and get my 9515 in the Z. When I got the sub, I had a ZX2500, so I got a dual 4 to match it. On the plus side, that Kicker amp sold locally for more than I paid for it new.

Another option to get a 2 ohm load would be to strap two smaller 1 ohm stable amps and build an amp rack for them. It'd probably be a lot more cost effective

Higher power at 2 ohm is hard to find without buying a very large 1ohm stable amp to run at 2ohm(which seems like a waste) Most of these amps will be rather large too. Strapping two smaller amps would be a good way to go as long as you can fit them. But that goes against the fact that you're looking at that specific amp for its small foot print. That being said...I would find a way to run 2 smaller amps (plenty of "mini" amps out there) if at all possible because those amps are wayyy pricey!

I've got a kx2500.1 that you are fond of its the old one, rated for 2500@2ohm, it runs one ohm, and it's 425shipped with end caps, fuseholder, fuse, hi level input plug, bass knob and I believe factory mounting screws.
