New install, now car won't start

i have had a similar problem (2005 saab 93)

it was a security issue. I even had this with an older truck. All the symptoms were the same. After the disconnect and reconnect all systems were go but the car would only crank but not turn over.

Check out the nissan forums for this one.

just looked at some Nissan sites and they mention the immobilizer. YOu could have fuked something up when you were messing with your electronics. Do you have a computer system that needs to be reset to get all systems go again? this was the situation on my saab after disconnecting the batt.

I am pretty sure this is a security/computer related problem.

make sure yer battery terminals are nice and tight. Thats a common error.
No. It wouldn't crank if the terminal wasn't on tight. It might click. But it wouldn't turn.

When the engine is turning, it's running off battery. When it turns over, it runs off the alternator.

If you removed the negative or positive terminal while doing the install (like you should have), then it might be your alarm system. My car wouldn't start when the manufacturer's alarm wasn't reset properly. You need to use the remote, or call the car dealership.

Regardless, it's a security issue.

yea i have one here in the shop and sure enough it sounds like the guys are sayin, security issue. check the manual for a sec. reset or override. or simply call a dealership.

the 350 should have a fuel cut of some where in the left side of the trunk or by ur driver side seat or on the passanger side were ur right foot would rest. check the manuel it might say where it is located .
i only thought that fords had these? i've never heard of anything else having them are you sure?

Well I spoke with Nissan and tried some security fixes to no avail. Searched 350z forums and found two guys that had the same problem, one guy had it happen just disconnecting and reconneting stuff to do door dampening. They both had to have their cars towed to the Nissan house and have their cars computer replaced.

After checking security, fuses, battery connection issues i had my car towed to the Nissan shop. And ****, the car's computer wouldn't even allow diagnoses, it is fried. $1,000 bucks.

The only place I actually tapped into the car was the battery and a ground in the rear. It seems you can do bad things to a 350z just disconnecting and connecting stuff for access. The tech at Nissan didn't really have an explanation as to what I could have done to fry it. But that's my theory considering the guy on the other forum having the same issue just doing door dampening.

I'm not experienced with car audio, but I'm also not an idiot. I reserched this project for a month and a half. and executed it the without doing anything that should have caused a problem. even the tech at nissan agreed with that.

Anyway thanks for trying to help guys.

I just feel sick now.

Just wanted to update. I think I know what I did to cause this whole mess and yes it was freeking stupid. Mid install with some car components removed and some intact I plugged in the window controls and reconnected the battery to check window clearance behind the door speakers.

The way I understood unhooking the battery before an install was to not send the audio components power while connected them so as not to fry the components. It didn't even cross my mind that I could hurt the car's components powering up with some intact and some disconnected. Anyway after going over the install in my head the last two days that's my conclusion. Stupid expensive mistake.
