New ideas.....

Ok if you haven't read my other thread here is my senerio. I am ran into some money BUT want to put as much away for a truck down the road a little but I need something in my car to keep me at least happy. I am totaly droping the DP :-( and HiFonics and going for somthing much cheaper. I am also dropping the 960 for me HU. Will most likly go with a cheaper Alpine or Pioneer, idk. Right now I am thinking about running a one of the 3; 1: a single 10 (right now thinking new L7)

2: (2) 10's, somthink like CVR's, Type R, 187's. Somthing in that range. or

3: (1) 12 nothing overly expensive though. Right now the idea of a single 10 is appealing. I would like to keep everything WELL under $1000. The cheaper the better but I am using that as a top price!!! I am going 10's (most likely) so I can build a sick box to make it sounds much larger then it is. Probably go with the same plan as before, Tuned nice and high like 40-45 and plug it down nice and low like 28 or so for SQ. I will have pretty well unlimited space due to it only being a 10 (mostlikly). If you know me, you know I have a fairly good idea of what I am doing and am trying to give you as much info as possible.

Would like to keep the sub's around the $150-$200 range, (200 only being if it is totaly worth it) Amp in that range if at all possible. Right now i am surfing ebay checking there and then will start emailing companys to try and get direct prices on drivers that have caught my eye. Probably under $200 as well for a HU, was thinking alone the lines of pioneer 660, 760 series or equivalent HU's.

Trying to think of what other info I can give to you to help me out. If I have missed anything just tell me and I will try and get that info to you.

Another thing that comes to mind but I am having a hard time finding is 8L7's. Wouldn't mind playing with a pair of em. Dimmond M3's and M6's have also looked nice. Pretty much open to all sugestions.....

well i have 2 12" m6s and i love them, but i have also played with the 12" m3. Can be had for 100 a piece and sound absolutely awesome ported tuned to like 30hz or so. Can take a relatively high amount of power(about 500-600rms a piece) but also get moving with only the 400 i was sending them.

thought about RE8's or koda8's? i think you would be happy with 2~4 of those little bad boys. 4 re's would be ~200... and would pound like a pair of 12's and the SQ would be amazing.

i have a single 10" RE SE and its making me quite happy. im about to put him to work in a new ported @37hz box, and i think he will shine in it with ~800w.

may i ask what you are doing with the DP and the hifonics?

I am tired of the RE 8's. Everyone has em and I want to do soming different then just RE 8's. Know what I mean??? The more I think about it I will mostlikly run daul 8 or 10's not sure. Like I said befor dual 8 L7's would be sick in my mind but they are a little hard to find. What every it is I don't want to spend a lot. The only other route I would go for a single set up is a new 10L7. Not sure why I seem to be favoring mainstream but I am. And for the last time I do not have the DP!!! If I hadn't decided to save for a truck down the road I owuld have it ordered by not but I don't ahve it yet..........

Really? Everyone has REs? Maybe everyone on this forum, but I've still yet to see anyone around here poundin' REs. I see lots of JL, RF, Kicker, Alpine, and Pioneer though.

Around me no one know who RE is. I mean on the forum, and the ppl who are more into car audio other then just getting the most expensive stuff, get what I'm saying. I think a pair of CVR's is going to be the cheapest most affective wasy to go. I am still in a planning stage and want to examin all possible ways I can go so i will most likly be changing my mind untill i found the "right setup"

A couple 10" CVRs would suit you just fine I'm sure. But a ported Shiva, or better yet, Koda 12 would be nice.

Yea a pair of 187's have also had my eye. Just need to get around and talk to Josh or Nick and find out how much then are.....
