Hey all. Doing a lot of reading here, some great info.

I just have one question...

I have an 07 Nissan Maxima and a couple of years ago I installed the Alpine Type X Ref. speakers. I recently realized one of the surrounds is ripped. I like everything else about the system, can I just replace the mid woofers?

Im using a ED 9.2x to power them so Id like to replace them with something that can take a little more power than the Alpines. Any suggestions??

Thanks. I'm not sure what you mean by keeping the thread up...

Im thinking no more than about 200.00. I'm not sure if it would be just better to buy a new set of comps or try to replace my woofers.

I'd like a woofer with a little more bass. The Alpines seem a little weak on the bass. Is it as simple as just buying a woofer of my choice? Do I have to be concerned with the Alpine x over?

usually it is the crossover .my hertz mids ,i have crossovers for them too. unless you go active then you can play with the high pass and low pass filters to get it dialed in a lot better

Well you say you installed your current speakers a couple years ago. 2-3 years is generally not enough for surrounds to deteriorate, so Im guessing over excursion caused the tear in your surround.

First, determine why your current setup failed. Im guessing improper gain settings/too much power. Next, address your new goal, more bass. Have you deadened and/or sealed your doors?

Oh yeah that's what happened. I remember the day, it made a weird noise, I didn't think much of it. Last weekend I pulled my door panels off to do some led lighting and then I noticed the tear.

I thought my amp was 100wpc but it's actually 200, so definitely to much power. My doors are partially deadened,I m going to do it right this time.

Anyone here ever use the Eclipse SC6500? A local shop has a close out on them for 150.00...what do you think?

Like I said at this point I think I'll just buy a whole new comp set. I'd really like to get some Pro 60's,but they're a little out of my budget right now.
