new guy that doesnt know crap about subs

//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif thanks for all the help guys. i guess i will go w/ the adire sub. sounds the best for the money from what you guys are saying. i will still need and amp and box and stuff so.........it will be a while before i even get anything installed. can you install a sub w/o a amp? or is that ghetto and it will barely even make sound?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

For an amp if you are looking to keep the cost down you could go with either a JBL 600/1 or a JBL 1200/1 depending on what subs you pick. You can find the 1200 for about 255 new on ebay. That what I am planning on doing when I get my system to keep the cost down.

you can do it...

not going to be loud at all, and i would worry about your deck...

unless it ahs a great internal amp (some Pioneers can handle it, but jsut barely)

either buy the sub, or buy the amp, or wait and get it all at once.

check out the JBL 1200.1, but if cash is an issue, the 600.1 (50 bucks less, half the power) will do it as well

IMHO, save up aofr a touch longer, grab the 1200.1 and set your gains properly..

in short, yes its ghetto, get it all at once (get good stuff once, and you wont have to keep upgrading) and then get a nice box built to the specs adire gives you...

I'm looking for some new subs too, last ones I had were 2 MTX 8000's man did i go wrong there, I blew 4 of them with my JBL 1200.1, didnt have the gains up, no distortion, the rubber surround just gave, on ALL of them, except for one. (Circuit City gave me a good warrenty), I plan to sell them, and I'm looking at either the Brahma's or Elemental Designs SP 15's. I WOULD consider the Shivas but I want more SPL. Right now I'm leaning more toward the SP15's cuz of the slightly lower price and almost even matched or exceeding specification. I've also been looking at subs from Digital Designs and Resonant Engineering. But those two brands are very expensive and I dont think they are cost efficient in comparison to the Brahmas or the ED SP15s. Am I wrong? I still consider myself a Subwoofer newbie. So any opinions are very helpful. Thanx

when it comes to amps...if your also looking for an amp thats not as expensive but is till a good quality amp....i would check out profile...not top of the line but no where near bottom of the line....2ohm stable and put out the stated power....and they are not too bad on the wallet....only recomending them if the jbl's are to much for ya....peace

an Alum 10, eh?

225 at the zeb...

lets say the zed is over priced, 200 bucks...

again, a I would put my money on a Shiva to wiper the floor with it for SQ, and for the money, two of them to destroy it for SPL as well....

Ask Rangerman... he owned the Alum 10's...

he knows waht hes tyalkigna bout too... "Great sub for the money, but will not take excess abuse and sq sucks"

Right out of his review...

ok my friend is selling his system. its two 10" kenwood subs, i dunno what kind they are. i just know they are silver:confused: . and the amp is a jl250.1 or something like that. he is sellling it for 300 bucks, i listened to it and its alright. i would replace the subs later w/ some 12s. im just kinda low on cash right now:) //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

just wait, its a good amp, but doesnt put out enough power for too much upgrading.

kenwood subs ****, plain and simple.

dont touch them.

Wait until you can afford somethign really decent, taht way, you wont have to keep upgrading that part of your system..

honestly, its the best and cheapest way to do it the long run
