New guy needs help

So today i bought about 600$ in subs and amps One of the subs has a click in it after a few minutes of play

the amp is a rockford punch 1500 im told it does 4000rms that its a cheater amp. when the sub started to click the amp started going in and out. what could this be? the subs are kicker cvr's The guy at the best buy i went to said they were a perfect match for a 4k amp. I installed it myself because we all know they have no clue about audio. Im just stumped. thanks

First, I think you got gypped. Rockfords make great power, but there's no way a Punch 1500 can do 4k clean. What's probably happening is you're overloading the tar out of your amp and it's starting to fail out. Dial down the power pronto. And those CVRs would NEVER take 4k well. I'm surprised they haven't fallen apart.

i was told to come here from a buddy of mine. The amp is turned all th way up. t has to be for any sound. at first i thought the polarity was switched. til i got the click. which may or may not be the box.

Not 4k underrated, man. That 1500 if it's underrated might put out 2k. Your amp is being overloaded to hell and never should you run it with the gain all the way up. It is not a volume control. Sounds like you need a new amp and someone to actually show you how to properly set gains.

i was told to turn it up til it distorts. and it doesnt. maybe it isnt 4k for real. but its not a dirty signal to me. the bass boost is off and the lpf is at 70 so idk what the problem is. i grounded to the gas tank bolts since thats on the frame. I was told to ground to the frame right?

OP, dig in to the Help 101 section and see how you actually do this stuff.
