new guy im completely retarded

ok so since he's probably charging i recommend ditching the double din to save some money but other than that id say your almost set. only thing id probably save a little more money and get a better amp. a used Q1-1200 or something along there.

nice single din - 150-200

2 sundown dual 4 sa-15's 470

1 mb quart dsc1500.1d 140

0 gauge kicker amp kit/300 amp fuse 150

hell i think im gonna take a shot at installing it all. screw it. materials 100-200 bucks?

soundqubed components 200

ppi 900.4 170?

leaves us at around 1300-1500

sound like a plan? anywhere we can make improvements?

I'm not purchasing anything for at least a week or so. so if anyone has suggestions or improvements im open. im going in search of a head unit now.

Id def switch that kicker kit for a sky high car audio believe me its cheaper and better wire its some good *** stuff. And like many said before do the big 3 the kit is $90 and its ofc wire same as the amp kit if you want cca wire its cheaper but everyone will recommend getting ofc from the getgo. The install is simple almost anyone can install a system hell i learned off of youtube 3 years ago. And used home tools my dad had so im sure if a 18 year old can so can you.

mmk sky high audio you said? ill check it out

i looked at the deh80prs and i gotta say its pretty enticing. ive never spent that much on a single din. but theres a first or everything.

so deh80prs

2 sundown dual 4 sa-15's

1 mb quart dsc1500.1d

sky high audio amp/big3 kit? do they make a kit?

box materials/misc

soundqubed components

ppi 900.4

in all honesty ill probably do this over the course of a month or two. i just dont wanna swamp and overwhelm myself. so i hope you guys are ready for hundreds of questions lol.

yea go to the website and they have a kits section and they have all the options they offer, they are full kits ready to install. and like above stated don't mount amps on sub box.

you got it... So when i do this would it make sense to do head unit first, components and 4channel. then do the subs and amp last or should i just man up and do the whole thing at once? Also when were talking boxes and tuning them to certain hertz im completely lost. Wheres the how to thread or tutorial? or im sure someone is running 2 sa 15's in a tahoe/yukon/escalade what did you do?

if your going to run everything clean might swell run all your wires at ounce to the location since everything ill be apart already, do it how ever your comfortable doing so. do to sundowns website and everything you need is there even a box they recommend for them

So I went to 2 seperate local car audio shops to demo a deh80prs and something quite disturbing happened. One shop had two of them. Both were hooked up neither one operated worth a ****. The display on one kept flickering on and off the other seemed to just turn on and off as it pleased. I went to another shop same company different location and that one was broken wouldn't even turn on. This worries me. Are they that fragile or is it jist being as popular as it is it gets messed with more or what?

Dude, its on a display where a bunch of noobs play and f*ck around with it and these brick and mortar shops aren't gonna keep putting new ones up there for them to continue breaking. Also its also likely its a horrible install by the shop(loose wires, bad ground, bad connections #hackjobs #)

Very little to problems with these head units exept people playing around with RCAs while the car and system is still on, leading to blown pico fuses. Pretty much thats just plain user error. I bought mines used and its still operating perfectly. Many of the seasoned vets that bought the 80 prs when it first came out are still running them without issues.

for your build, i'd switch out the soundqubed components for their pro audio 6.5 and supertweeters. Their component speakers dont hold a candle to their pro audio gear because their pro audio sounds better and is a lot louder. However if you want the perfect sound, you might want to learn how to do an active speaker setup using the 80prs's 2 way active networks.

This is where his title for this thread comes into play, "new guy I'm completely retarded." How many idiots go into stores and completely *** with the display? The 80prs is a bad azz HU. A buddy of mine has one and I'm getting one when funds allow it. You'll be happy with it OP.

You calling me a retard? Lol. Yeah I just thought it wss crazy all their sounboard worked except that 80prs. I was like wtf is goin on here. Had me a little worried. I get people **** with stuff but man 3 of the same one not working thats crazy. Ill take your guys word 4 it. Ive decided im going to start with the head unit and build towards the back. I found out the truck has aftermarket speakers already which was surprising. But you say soundqubed pro audio 6.5 huh? Ill check em out. I honestly wanna build this once and only once so im taking all the good advice I xan get. Any gurus here from minnesota by any chance? Someone that could give me a hands on tutorial?
