Ok guys I have about 1500 bucks. A 1999 yukon with stock audio I want a major upgrade. Im thinking 2 15"s around 1000 watts rms a piece. I used to be into car audio years ago im just getting back into it. Soundstream used to have awesome stuff and I see they have some stuff now thats "rated" pretty good id like to see if it performs. Its literally been 7-8 years since ive purchased or installed anything so im pretty rusty. Whats a good double din for around 300 bucks? New/used I dont care as long as it works.

Well we all started out line this in car audio. Be if you can listen. Then you can learn $1500 is a decent starting budget if done right. But I can tell you. Anything over 2k in power on your truck. You'll need a new bigger alt. so let me start here. Electrical is the most important part of a new system. 0 gauge wire is a must. So a big 3 kit and 0 gauge amp kit to start. Can be as cheap as $110 or as much as $200 for both next a deck. $300 range. Look used. No power acoustic. Jensen or off brands like this. Amp and subs again 2000 rms. a sq 2200. Saz 2500 dc 2.0 there are many should be in the $300-$450 range used. Or $500-$650 new. Custom box is a must. $250 if shipped. Maybe cheaper if you can find a builder local. Or buy plans and DIY Subs. again I prefer new or freshly reconed. Sa xfl obsidians maybe dc lvl 2 or 3 should be $180 - $225 each shipped. Hope this helps

You can get a Pioneer AV3600BHS for under $300 shipped off amazon or ebay. It's solid, though I'd upgrade to the 4600 model as it has 4V pre-outs. 2 FI SSDs fit the bill, but checkout the selection from sundown, soundqubed, TC-sounds, sound solutions audio, american bass, b2 audio, c2 audio, ct sounds. There are others I may be forgetting, but all are solid. Some I know from experience and some from extensive reviews by others. Amps from all the above manufacturers will be solid as well, minus TC-sounds as they don't make amps (yet?). Take these recommendations as you may, check out the selection and read the reviews...often times reviewers give insight as to which particular application may be best suited for which driver.

Note: Soundqubed will be consistently the most bang for the buck. It is also just as reliable as everything else, just essentially an unbeatable price point.

stay away from Soundstream it's become overprice garbage for the most part. There are much better options ou thee for the money. Rite bow eBay is selling The mb quart DSC1500.1 amps for 135 shipped I picked up two and there great.they do rated and are **** efficient doing so. As far as subs go you can pick up a pair of sundown audio sundown audio SA 15's for around 210 shipped new a piece. And you really ony would need the one 1500 watt amp. I was running the same setup in a 98 lerado and I'm hitting in the 149-150 range which is **** loud for a everyday setup on only 1500. Also my electrical is completely stock aside from a single run of 0 gauge wire for power. I have almost Bo voltage drop it drops from around 13 volts to 12.2 unless I'm parked and have it at full tilt. Bit while on driving there's really no drop at all. So your talking under half your budget on the subs and amp which isn't bad. And it leaves you the rest to get a decent deck and still properly upgrade your electrical if need be. You could also strap two of the mb quarts together for a little over 3200 watts for under $300 bucks which is absolutely in heard of. A sundown SAZ3500 will run your around $500+. jokes this help and good luck

Awesome some solid advice there. so i just bought this tuck two days ago and while i was messing around doing some of my first day modifications i stumbled across a 4gauge amp kit. ive always run 0 but i just thought that was interesting. i could tell the stock radio was removed and reinstalled but judging by looks the last guy didnt look like he was into subs n such. But i was doing some thinking today while i was at work and i decided. what im going to do is start at the head unit/interior speakers. im looking for sound quality and something that will sound nice with a little bass when subs arent running. Once i have those installed and dialed in ill get to subs and amp. ive really been looking at sa-15's a lot because i have yet to read a thread that doesnt recommend them. this is the first ive heard of the mb quartz amp. i ran some of their speakers a looong time ago they were nice but. Also i was thinking scrap the double din idea. im ok with single din. id prefer front aux port mp3 capable and all that jazz. i need to be able to play cd's mp3's ipod and pandora needs a remote too. Id rather spend more on amp/subs than a fancy head unit. last question..

who makes the best amp kits out there? i used to use kicker because the local car audio only carried 0 gauge in kicker. But now im all internet savvy so i can order some lol.

so basic rundown i think ive decided on the sa-15's

still need an amp, head unit, amp kit and speakers.

the truck comes with 4 6.75's and 2 4x10's

thanks for your patience

Kicker amp kits actually aren't that bad. I have an 8 and a 4 gauge kit lying around from them. Oversized wire too. Just stay away from their subs lol.

The other guy is right, SoundQubed is the absolute best 'bang-for-your-buck' there is today. Without skipping out on quality either. Sundown's SA-15's, or the whole SA line for that matter is great. Can't go wrong there. If you're gonna run 2k, i'd look into upgrading your alt. Or at LEAST upgrading your battery. Even if your truck has the biggest (160A?) amp alt from the factory, that's barely enough to cover 2k.. Not even accounting for amp efficiency and the cars accessories. Keep an eye on your voltage.

i think as far as battery and alt go im going to play it by ear once eveything is up and running ill see where we're at most likely upgrade. lol would it be a bad idea to run a dual battery set up? i know theres room for it in them older tahoes and yukons. i looked around a bit and i think i going to run with an alpine head unit hvaent decided exactly which one but.

ok just a little update here and please help me if im wrong somewhere or you think the **** i chose is junk.

alpine IVE-w530

2 sundown dual 4 sa-15's

1 mb quart dsc1500.1d

0 gauge kicker amp kit/200 amp fuse

custom ported box. i have a cousin who builds awesome stuff.

now as far as interior speakers does anyone have recommendations? will i need another amp to power these? or can i run them right from the head unit?

help!

Get your amp kit and big 3 kit from sky high car audio, that kicker kit is like $200 and you can buy the 1/0 ofc kit for $125 and big three kit fused for $90.

is your cousin charging you for the box? and the install will you do it yourself or a shop?

alpine IVE-w530 $400?

2 sundown dual 4 sa-15's $460?

1 mb quart dsc1500.1d $140 refurbished?

Sky High Car Audio 1/0 amp kit $125

Sky High Car Audio Big 3 kit 1/0 fused $90

leaves you with $285 for mids and highs amp and mids and highs....

you can buy the ppi900.4 for $170 which leaves $110 for a set of components

if your willing to ditch the double din you can def get something decent with your wants a single din for around $150 OR high end 80prs but i doubt you need that. cutting that cost opens up your door for a nice set of components although I've heard good about the soundqubed components and very cheap for the output they give. only $99

im open to any and all suggestions i dont NEED a double din. i can always upgrade down the road. sound takes priority right now. Oh and btw 1500 is not by any means a set it stone budget. If i gotta spend another 200 bucks thats fine by me. i just want something that will sound good and last over time.

my cousin will more than likely be charging lol. my last set up i threw any money at he installed and built the box. that was 4 15" kicker cvx's 2 kicker 1250.1's 1 700.4 all kicker components with an alpine double din i dont remember the exact model. but i know that system sounded pretty awesome looked good and had 0 issues. he charged 500 for the box and install. thats the only pic i have of it. th box was huge it was taller than my rear seats. ports were on the back facing the doors.

that was all in this truck.

Heres my new to me yukon
