New enclosure pics for my Ti.

I tried my ti in a 1.25^3 sealed after displacement and hated how it sounded. It's currently in the box I made for my SE (2.0^3 after displacement,tuned@33hz and it sounds mehhhhhhh)

I haven't been to happy with my Ti, but it's my fault for not having a big enough box (I think eclipse said it needs like 3.0^3 to sound nice)

Eclipse Techs have their heads so far up their collective @sse's it's rediculous. I once talked to Thilo Stompler and Steve Ponte, the men behind the Ti, and they both recommended smaller vented enclosures. Like in the neighborhood of 1.75ft^3 net tuned to 35Hz. In all honesty, I prefer it in vented enclosures smaller than that. Trust me, I've had it in a .75ft^3 sealed, 1.85 ft^3 @ 30hz, 1.55ft^3 @ 33hz, and .75ft^3 @ 40hz. The last two have sounded the best overall.

The response of this sub just becomes more and more peaky around tuning when it is loaded in a larger enclosure. If you ever have any questions about box designing for this sub, give me a hollar.

I sure do. I was going to go with a sealed install for my 15, just so that I would not have to worry about performance peaks or any of that shit, but now you have got me thinking. What kind of listening prefrences do you have? I have left the bass heavy SQL stage and wandered off to very balanced, accurate reproduction, so I woul dlike to know how yours performs. And if you don't mind, shooting me the specs for your box, I would like to try it out as soon as I have the moolah.

BTW, the last box I had my Ti in was 4.3^3ft @ ~24Hz, and it was alright, but nothing above average. Really dissapointed me with 750wrms.

I think I felt the same as you about 3 months ago with my Ti 12. So I moved it from a 1.5 ft^3 net at 35Hz vented box and decided to try a .75 ft^3 net sealed. At first I liked the change because it did sound a more crisp and defined when I threw in some live music or old school rock, but then I started to miss that extra output and low bass rumble when Korn or Outkast got some play. So, thats why I built my newest box. I just wanted a better compromise.

If you want balance and accurate reproduction, a sealed box is the easiest way to achieve that in a vehicle. Unfortunately, because of the Ti's suspension and motor design, most people don't like the sound of them in sealed enclosures. If you did still wanted to try your 15 sealed aim for 1.5-1.75ft^3 net, but the box Q will be around .55-.60 and it will have a -3dB point of about 60Hz. So it will sound dry and relatively anemic in low bass output.

This sub will still sound very controlled in a carefully designed vented box plus you will get that extra deep bass rumble and output that the sealed box was lacking. For SQ, aim for 2.25 ft^3 net tuned to 35Hz. Give it 30in^2 of port. Some people will tell you that 35Hz is to high but trust me, it will have a -3dB down at 28Hz or so and will be way less peaky than your last vented box. It will also be a lot less efficient so you will definitely need more than 750Wrms.

I would think that box would give you some great lows, but sound pretty muddy. 750Wrms in that box should have got it stroking pretty far though.
