New dmm, how to adjust settings

i got this dmm today from walmart

when i use it to adjust my gain, i put it on 20 volts dc and i put it in the amp where the speaker wires would normally go, but no matter how i adjust the gain with the prongs in, the display always reads -0.01 or like 0.02 and i did the formula to see how much its supposed to be and im supposed to be getting 37 volts, can someone tell me exactly how to use this dmm step by step please, thanks and also where i should put the wires since there are 2 slots for the positive leads, thanks

You need AC voltage...http://www.jlaudio.com --> look for the gain setting tutorial.

alright and i'm gonna use a 45hz test tone is that ok? someone else recommended i use 60, also where do i plug the leads into on the dmm, i know the black wire goes where it says COM, but which one of the other two does the red wire go into?

that reminds me, what frequency should i use for my speakers that are being used with a high pass crossover?

make sure after you do that to touch the probes together and see what the resistance of the dmm leads than take that and subtract it from your reading, just to be more accurate.
