All i had in the past were low budget cars that i didn't really care about. I decide I was in for a car that i could love and invest into. I'm still a student but i'll be starting my career in the next year, as soon as I finish university

I bought an black Elantra gt 2004 premium and i'll be getting it next week. I'm so glad:D I love the look of this car with some little mods (tint, rims, grill in front and some more...) + the huge trunk and the fact that it's an hatchback. Perfect for stereo //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif Full equip with leather seat //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I'm buying something like 80ft/sq of damplifier. I'll be running some 0 ga from my isolator to my front batt to rear one in sig.

Other than that what do i need? wire harness? dash kit? Hu emplacement got 2 din, one for a hu and the other one is a "pocket" like this:

http://cgi.ebay.ca/2004-05-HYUNDAI-ELANTRA-OPTIMA-W-POCKET-INSTALL-KIT_W0QQitemZ280257935296QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item280257935296&_trksid=p3286.m20.l1116#ebayphotohosting

I usually just cut the harness and check for online wiring diagram.. but it's pretty getho. I didn't care cause i know i'm the last owner on the cars i had in the past.

And what about the dash kit? I want to put my equalizer (half-din) and instal it under the headunit somehow. Any suggestion?

I'm I missing something? Anyone with 0 ga terminal ringz? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Oh and a picture of the model. This ain't mine but it looks like it alot

i wouldn't invest a penny in it. I understand if it was a high end car or at least higher brand car but elantra? just my 2c
Well keep in mind my budget was pretty limited and with the gas price in canada //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/greedy.gif.5a53e6246569d7ab79867170f3b06629.gif, i'll forget everything v6.

I signed the check already, the car is mine.

The car was inspect and is in top shape. The owner did everything hyundai tell her to do.... so a lot of things are done

anyway that's not the question

Is in understand well, i should go with a double din dash kit. I'm I wrong?

looks like a nice car. What do you plan on for the system? Or are you just going to swap out everything you have now.
yeah but the instal will be so better that it will be like new equipment //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I just bought a double din dash so the equalizer will be just under my headunit. I'll set my headunit button color to blue, so it will fit nicely. I'll make a build log for sure. I bought the harness too. Dash kit cost me 24$ shipped and wire harness 14$ shipped. Shipping is **** expensive over here //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif

I'll build a new box too. I guess I can get up to 8-9ft/cu without walling the car. Big trunk for sure

I'm waiting on Ant for the second skin and looking for some 0ga wire and terminals.

The alt was replace by canadian tire. I was told it was oem. I heard it was 90amp. possible? can i get to like 130-140 with some rewinding?

after what you said about your previous work, I doubt you'll get any clean work done to your car. you should just take the car to a decent car audio shop and tell them what you want and cut the check. you're probably gonna do more harm than good.

you almost read my mind. unless you have someone that knows what they are doing to help you or walk you thru it and you want it done clean take it to someone else. I'm just going off of what you said your previous work consisted of lol.

Previous work was done at -10 celius and in a hurry. I just bought a car at the begining of the summer so i'll have a lot of free time to make it perfect. I've learn a lot since... from joining this forum. I know i can do an quality instal. I'm not worried at all.

I did a lot of things inbetween too on friends car.

and don't trip on me cutting the wire harness. I wouln't have buy a 20$ harness on a car worth less than 1k. My girlfriend keep it till it die

shopping done!

Cost me 500$ ****. Just for deadening, wire harness, double din dash adapter, 0/1ga terminal and wire.

I could have invest that money into amps or subs //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

rush or not cutting the harness and then searching for the wiring diagram then using the diagram to connect to radio is wayy to much work, when you could have just got the harness and it would have plugged in in seconds. also $20 for a harness, where do you buy your harness from best buy?

but anyways, good luck with your install.

well the headunit install wasn't fun in any way Especialy with frozen finger:furious:

As for the harness price... the cheapest i found was on ebay. 3,99$ for the harness + 10$ for shipping and then convert in canadian dollar = 19ish something. I called an audio shop this morning and the price was 20$ +taxes. I don't support this so i went the online way...

It sucks real bad to leave here:crying:

You're an idiot.

So unless you have a high end car you shouldn't put a stereo in it so you can enjoy it to the fullest?

Sorry we all can't have a 7 yearold VW Golf. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

You're joking right? If you had spent a reasonable amount on that stuff you could have used the rest of the $500 to pay to have it all installed professionally

I believe a clean install is easy. It just takes time, patience, the right tools and parts.
