It's a simple question. Is it worth it to buy components if you only intend to run them off the head unit, or would a set of full range speakers be better?

Thinking of upgrading the sound in the work van I just picked up, and NO I am NOT going to put an amp in. Not going to happen, setup has to be very simple.

not a good idea imo. I'm thinking about that too for my gf car and she don't want to invest... I think i'll simply go with some efficient coax off hu

the passive crossover process eat some of the energy... which let you with very little on 20watt

Yes I had a set of polk momo components running off a head unit not a problem and they got plenty loud as well. I am not saying that they did not get better when I got a amp. They can be ran off a head unit.

I just put a set of phonix gold componets in a blazer off a hu and it sounded a million times better then the stock and got plenty loud.if your trying to stay cheap then don't do componets but me myself I would.
