New car, new speakers!

I have the 2007 camry and on friday i took off my door panel to run speaker wires for my components. Before i took off the door panel i had washed my car. When i did take off the door panel, i had removed the factory 6 x 9 speaker that was located on the front door. Guess what i found. Water! On the factory bracket it has this type of shielding right on top of the midbass motor so that way it prevents it from getting wet. When i make my new baffle to fit my 6.5, if water hits the motor. Will this affect any? What should i do to avoid this type of problem when i wash my car?

I dont know if you guys realize this but water(atleast some) goes through the doors when it rains or you wash it, thats why there are holes in the bottom of the doors....I just made a shield outa plastic and glued them at an angle to deflect water away from the speakers....and dont say its the seals cuz my car at the time was a few months old....
