New car came with system, trying to fix it up

Just got a 98 type R. It came with 2 xtant 2002 amps, a 10" JL 10w3 in a custom glassed box (very nice), alpine 7894. That stuff is all pretty nice. The speaker setup wasn't so great. It had some 6.5" Infinity reference woofers, with some MB quart tweeters. No crossovers, just caps inline acting as crossovers.

Out of my other car I have a Pioneer 860, Cadence 200x1, Cadence 750x1, a 12" CDT HD in a sealed box, and some CDT CFEF speakers. I swapped in the CDT woofers and crossovers. Didn't have time to swap the headunit. I'm going to keep the box since its a nice custom fit fiberglass unit, so I will either keep the 10w3 or get a new 10" and sell the CDT 12" and box.

Anyways, ,my issue is I went to put the CDT tweeters into the teg, but the door panels were cut for the MB quart tweeters which are much larger, so I had to leave the MB quarts in because I didn't have a way to mount the tweeters. I need to pick some tweeters up or find a way to mount the CDT tweeters. I do not like the MBQ tweeters (even though they are the Q series, nice ones). So does anyone have any clue on what tweeters I can use to replace. They will need their own mounts.

I'll have alot of stuff for sale also once I figure out what I'm keeping and what I'm selling. The CDT sub and box are going for sure, but one of the decks, the tweeters, and 2 of the amps are going. Not sure if I want to run my cadence amps or the xtants. The cadence amps do have ALOT more power, but I may not need that much.

I guess it would be an option, but having a custom machined aluminum spacer made is probably out of the price range unless those are commonly available.

It shouldn't be more than $20 to get it custom made. Even if its more, you aren't going to find as high quality tweet as you already have for less than the cost of the rings.

You should be able to get it for free though. Ive made that kind of stuff in my high school shop class. Attach the thick piece of alum to a lathe, grind it out, and then drill a hole.

EDIT: If you can't make it anyway, how much are you looking to spend on a set of tweets?

Well, would probably just sell the CDTs and just pick up a new set of speakers. Maybe $250-350 range. I got a 100x2 amp to run them. Only requirement would be a 1" tweeter with proper mounting hardware so I can easily install them.

Now I need to find a replacement for this 10w3. Any comparable subs that I can swap out?

Plenty are in line with the W3. Try to figure out the box dimensions, so you can match a sub with the space you have. Though thats not generally the best idea, its a nice box, and there are lots of good subs in that area, so im sure something else will be a reat swap with it.

In the $250-350 range, CDT HD's fit, if you like the EFs. They come with a 1" silker.

If you look right, you might be able to find a DynAudio set that might fit, either the 220 or 240. 1.1" tweeter, so that might be even better. Focal is another one you might look at, though im not sure on their tweet sizes.

Focals are awesome.

Right now I was looking at some OZ speakers and subs. Local place has them. Was going to swing by and test them out. Friend loves his. The matrix elites sub and components.

I can either give the sub 200 watts of the xtant in the car now, or put my cadence in there and have 750 watts. Seems like any 10" sub that takes 700-800 watts is too deep.

Not sure how to measure the box dimensions, besides taking it out, and filling it with water or something like that.

Yah, but the cadence are 100x2 and 750x1, while the extants are 50x2 and 200x1. All I have to decide is what speakers/sub I'm going with, then choose the amps that will work best. If the sub I choose only needs 200-250watts, no point in running the cadence.

Haven't gone their yet, but I'm interested in the matrix 6.5" components and 10" matrix sub. Seems to have the right specs and can take a decent amount of power.
