This is for an '02 Tundra Access Cab that I recently bought and can use some help. I have some old (but still good) stereo equipment from an old car, and I want to reuse it and try to get a decent system going. My ideal setup would be an in-dash DVD/NAV w/ Ipod hookup, new speakers, and the Q-logic 2x8" sub setup for tundras all connected to my amp. But since money is tight I think I'm gonna ditch the DVD/NAV and subs and possibly do that down the road.
So now what I want to do is use my old head unit (Pioneer DEH-P860MP) and amp (Kenwood KAC-X650D 5way 1200watt) along with new speakers all around and Ipod hookup. I love CD's but its time to step it up and get rid off that giant case of hundreds of CD's in the passenger seat lol. My old stuff is still good stuff, I just hope I can get good enough bass and mids without subs. So basically I want to know if this would be a decent setup all together, and what kind of speakers and ipod hookup cables am I looking at?
From what I understand, the Pioneer CD-RB10 cable will convert the multi-disk input on the Pinoeer HU to RCA, and then I need an RCA to ipod cable. Any suggestions? I've read that new ipods don't work with older cables (I have a 1st gen touch now, but may buy a new one with more Gigs). Hate spending 50 bucks just on getting ipod hookup cables, but what else can I do. I also don't want to loose sound quality with crappy cables.
As far as speakers, having trouble nailing down what exactly is in an 02 tundra access cab, but I think 6.5's will fit in the fronts with tweeters, so crossovers up there and maybe 6.5's can be made to fit in the back too? Should I opt for components in the back? So I could also use some speaker suggestions on say, a $400 speaker budget roughly. I should have most other install cables from my previous car, but will worry about that later.
