New Box Pics! (Video will come soon!)

geo, I in no way was trying to apologize to u!! but most of that was not directed at you at all but to the other two guys that had nothing but smart remarks about stuff I know alot about but look back after that one guy said to shut up, then u wrote x2 and lol'd. Why, I did'nt say anything about you and would'nt have about either of them if I wasnt attacked first. Im not like that but when it come to car audio I know my stuff and I was just trying to help u out a little, but that long post, well 98% was to them, not u. Look I dont want to be enimies with u or anyone so lets put this behind us and just chalk it all up to a mis understanding? It up to u?
you must be a JL dealer. it all makes sense now.

rlcowboy,

It's not that big of a deal. It is just out of the ordinary when someone posts something that is new to a lot of members. All you need to do is back up what your saying with some proof and examples and your golden!

Evan I will see what I can gather together as far as something that talks about suspension fatigue and some of the other problems from playing a driver without it having something to load off of. Suspension fatigue is just one of the problems. I'll see what I can get together when I get back in town Monday.

I don't know why the other guy mentioned JL or being a jl dealer, whats that got to do with the price of tea in China, but sinse u said that I will let u know I have sold JL only at one place and that was over 8 yrs back. Lots of Memphis though! Al good stuff, what ever u prefer. I think JL sounds sweet, and I think its a proven fact that the 12w6v2 is one of the best sq subwoofers you can buy. lots of folks on here will back that up.

and the big JL badge that you have plastered to your sig.

Hmm, that couldn't be why someone thought you were a JL dealer. No, I think that you just like to spend your money on over-priced, "paying for the name" equipment. Lot better sounding stuff out there than JL, and we all know it. Well, most of us know it. Some have JL hard-ons that will never deflate. But, neither will their egos, since they own "the best equipment that money can buy".

Oh yeah, by the way, rlcowboy, YOU STILL HERE?

pwnt.

and yes, that's why i called you a JL dealer.

and because a lot of dealers are idiots. you blend right in.

****, u guys are really getting personal in here //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

From all the theory I've read the sealed box acts as a spring in controlling sub excursion. A ported box will also control the excursion well above the port tuning frequency, below port tuning is where it gets unstable, thats why we implement the sub-sonic filter usually just below port tuning. Having something to close to the opening of the port can also cause problems. Having a trunk/boot open is the same as keeping the doors and/or windows open for subs firing forward.

The bassboxing IASCA class, which I believe began in South Africa, requires the competitor to play music with a door open. These guys are hitting over 150dB's and not hurting their subs. Well thats what I have seen anyway. Maybe the sub lifespan is reduced, but how can one assess that without getting an engineer or designer to run some tests in a lab?

With regard to amps on the sub box, I've heard others talk about the cons as well. Theoretically everything has a resonant frequency, so if your box or your car is being exposed to their res freq, they gonna vibrate. Hence the shock absorbtion in cd players. The probability of causing a dry joint in an amp may increase if its mounted on the sub enclosure cos then the components, pc boards etc vibrates when the mounting surface vibrates. I have experienced dry joints with a cheap amp I used once and it was mounted on my sub enclosure. Whether that was the cause or not I will never know!

Peace out!

i dont think rlcowboy is the smartest... but geowick youve handled this lamely.

posting his PM? how childish of you. and bumping to reinforce other people supporting you? that's very insecure that you need to reinforce the idea that you got "backup".

hope youre enjoyin your box though. looks like it pounds.

I will admit, posting his pm was lame and low. I though better of it after I did it. Thats about the only thing i have done that is lame, in my view. But, opinions very.

And, i tried to clarify about the bumps and the "having my back" comment a few posts back. That was taken the wrong way by most, if not all. I simply meant that I appreciated that someone shared my point of view, and that i wasn't completely off-base. I am not trying to offend anyone on here, and if I do so, it's not intentional.

And yes, I am enjoying the new box. It pounds nicely, thanks.

yep! i knew it. i have a HP camera and while it takes great pictures the videos ****. the image is blurry and the sound is horrible. it sounds all fuzzy even when not distorted by bass. heres a video i made a while back using the camera. you can definately tell its similar to yours
