New box, honda civic lx

i have a honda civic 2006 sedan and i was wondering if anyone has sealed there box from the trunk into the cabin. Im definitely going to use a ported box but i was wondering if i would lose any low frequency extension by doing this sort of build rather than the standard ported box in the trunk.
