Not quite the case. Very few have been blown for any reason. The problem was that I was getting calls, e-mails, and PMs literally every day about "can I use X battery and X alternator at 1/2 ohm" -- usually a stock alt and a weak battery with lacking wiring... then people would get them, wire them to 1/2 ohm with bone stock electrical systems and call, e-mail, or PM me asking why it is going into protection.

Sheer pain in the butt and wasted time supporting people who could not read or ignored the FAQ and electrical requirements for 1/2 ohm operation was the reason. Generally the amps just got protection happy, very few failures as the protection circuitry works quite well. My first customer has had his 1500Ds at 1/2 ohm ever since he got them without issue.

I didnt doubt the amps, I meant people were expecting if its warrantied at 1/2 ohm then it will get fixed regardless of the charging system...as you have outlined in your reply.

How musical are these subs...ive heard that the old hd3's werent very musical...loud but not musical

I'm running the "old" HD's and they're very good for music. I've run the HD's at 35 & 38Hz tunes and they sound good with both. I mostly listen to 80's metal, old school rap, r&b, 70's rock, etc... and they can be VERY musical when the gain is turned down a fuzz, and can be BEASTS when it's turned up.

Per DJ these are not SPL subs, but daily drivers that happen to get pretty loud.
