Well, I guess, but there is no guaratee that the final sub is going to be anything like the ones I have. That being said........cant you just give us a general idea on how they performed at least?
The protos are really nice. They sound a little different than the HD3. Some will like it better, some may not. They have a deeper, smoother sound. Not quite as harsh as the HD3. The HD3 has a little more impact though, which is basically why they are a little harsh at times. Although it does have a little less impact, I haven't found a song that has a fast enough beat that it won't keep up, so the transient response it still very good. It never slurrs a note.
As far as SPL goes, I haven't done much with that yet. I've only been running it on a single m1a at 1 ohm. I did drag out the TL and meter it, and was pretty impressed for the small amount of power. The sub doesn't struggle at all with that amp on it. It was hotter than the pits of hell here yesterday, and the sub never got hot after extended full tilt listening sessions.
I know DJ is still playing with a few different things on this sub, so take these comments with a grain of salt. A couple of the coil options he was talking about trying could totally change the sound characteristics of the sub. As a customer I would be happy with it the way it is, but I think DJ wants to exhaust all options to make it the best it can be. I'm sure whatever he settles on will be the best all around package.
