Currently have 2 subs rated at 250watts RMS each. Have them wired at 4ohms, due to my current amp. I have also heard that running an amp at 4ohms would yield better efficiency, so this got me into looking at amps that can push around 650 to 750 watts RMS at 4 ohms (4 ohms Mainly because of my weak stock alternator, and 750 watts RMS for planned SA-12 or LI Incrimnator 12). It is also nice to have the options for 2 ohms and 1 ohm being high output in case I do ever change my stock alternator, letting my next sub shine.

My current plan is, Big 3, then new amp with bigger wire runs +LC7i, then new sub. Currently have my eyes on the Soundstream TN1.3000D, Soundstream TA1.3000D, and the T1.6000DL. Any ideas on any of them?

there are other amps to buy in that price range ppi p1k is 938rms at 2ohm 1100 @ 1ohm it's $155 amazon very loud amp u can run lower than 4ohm no problem just set gain low (mine is barely up 930 rms to 1 12).. those zapcos are good amps.. look at twisted sounds and orion xtr's (1500 is $226)

If you're considering 4 ohms for efficiency you may be shooting yourself in the foot buying a turd like Soundstream, and if you're not ready to spend you won't get anything particularly nice that'll make 500W @ 4 ohm.

I'd run a good amp at 1 ohm before I'd go bottom fishing for the sake of running 4

Here are some top quality options for you to consider from a vendor you can call on for guidance any time.
Zapco ST-2000XM II 2000W Mono Class D Bass Amplifier

Zapco ST-1650XM II 1650W

Zapco ST-1350XM II 1350W

What vehicle do you have? Year/make/model
2004 Acura TSX

I will take a look

Hmm, okay. I will look at everything that others have suggested

Thanks guys!

JL 500/1 popped up in the classifieds, if the seller's refs look good that's a solid choice.
But would it be sufficient for a future Lethal injection incriminator? I'm not only replacing an amp, but also upgrading things piece by piece

4ohm and 2 ohm are definitely more efficient but your are going to pay an arm and a leg for the power.

that being said a good amp ran at one on is still going to give you 70% efficiency at max power and up to 80% at low to mid power so just be cautious with the gain and volume knob and you will be fine..

I'm looking at the Orion XTR 1500.1 right now, but I am seeing mixed notes on what the wattage at 4ohms, 2ohms, and 1ohm is. Also, would you do the Orion XTR 1500.1 or the Zapco ST-1350MX?

Not so much if you want to get more power later.

Zed Audio Minotaur gets my vote if you have the budget, should make 600+W into 4 ohm easily and double that as you drop to 2 ohm later. Very efficient, regulated power supply, and great pre-amp/x-over/eq functions built in.

Thanks, I shall take a look into that. Currently eye-balling the Zapco 1350 above, and the Orion XTR 1500.1 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

EDIT: Just looked. Oh lord, that's too deep for my pockets //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

EDIT 2: Found one on Ebay, but if bids go too much higher, than I might not be able to do it. Not to mention, I won't be able to hook it up immediately, meaning it would be a problem on if it worked or not

I sold my V2 Minotaurs for reasonable prices, used you could scoop one up for a fair price.

Not sure what Zapco has for "budget" line these days so I figured if you were considering them you might be interested.

Ah, okay. I only see one on ebay right now. Amplifiers won't be for a sec. Getting the kunconeptz amp kit (0 gauge fleks), and the LC7i. But even before that is the Big 3. Hopefully, I will have the big three done in about 2 or 3 weeks (currently have my car with me, but I am on campus for college).

The Orion is $250

The Zapco 1350 is $300

Zapco 1650 is $350

Honestly, the Orion seems to be more for my price range.

Current generation Orion are getting good reviews but IMO largely untested, the brand overall has had a rocky past shifting between top end and pretty poor. Zapco has a solid track record of high quality and good design, though again, I'm not sure about their newer entry level price tier, up until quite recently their whole catalog was premium quality/price.
