It depends on the artist, some care a lot and are involved in every process of the production and creation of their music, others aren't.

Those caring artists are getting fewer and far between everyday. I have a couple sound engineer friends that own a local recording studio. That's sad //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif I know a few do evertything for their music, Trent Reznor from NIN is a control freak and I am pretty sure he does a lot for his records, Maynard from Tool is the same way I believe, as are a few others I listen too. The best is still old recordig like Pink Floyd, The Beatles later stuff, The Moody Blues, all amazing sounding and amazing music as well.
