New 7800mp or 1 yr old 860mp?

Hey all, I’m in the market for a new stereo after my pioneer 860MP was stolen. I was looking at this year's models and was considering the 7800mp. Crutchfield has it for $320 bucks on special. I can also get another 860mp that was made in April 2005 that was bought at a authorized dealer for hopefully $225 - $275. The 860 has more features, but the screen was hard to read in the daylight and with sunglasses on. Is there any improvement in going to the 7800, or should I stick with the 860?

i have no experience with the 860 but i have a 780 and i f'n love it. its not too hard to read during the day at all. alof of people will tell you just to get the 880. when it comes down to it the 780, 860, and 880 will all sound very similar. go with the one you think looks nicer.

Well the 880 is out due to the price. Is the Auto EQ and Auto Time-aligement features any good on the 860? I always ment to use it, but never got around to it. I don't plan on running active anytime soon, so I don't need that. I believe the preout's are the same voltage and Ohm Rating between the 2. Are thier any other features that i'm missing between them?

I have the 7800 and I love it. Its probably one of the best headunits out there. If you have a serious system I would go with the 860 being that it has 6.5V preouts compared to the 7800 that has 5V preouts. I never have a problem seeing the screen during daylight with or without my sungalsses on.

I'm running a MTX 6001 600W class D amp to 2 12in MTX 5500's in a Sledgehammer box and a 100W Profile amp to 2 6.5in Polk Ex's. I don't know if that's a serious system or not, but I think the imput voltage on the sub amp is 5V, so it would match the 7800 perfectly.
