New 13w6v2

So I just picked up a JL 13w6v2 and I would like to make a ported box for it. The vehicle it will be in is a Chevy Cobalt and powered by a JL 500/1. The ported box that JL recommends is 1.875 cuft tuned to 31.5 Hz. The dimensions are 18.875 x 16.5 x 18.625. Just wanted to know what people thought of this box. Go bigger? Tune it differently? Any suggestions would help.

Go bigger for sure, but try and listen to different setups to figure out where you'll want to tune. Also go with a little bit bigger port opening then they list, I just built a box for 3 10w1's and I was pretty impressed with their output, they were playing almost as loud as my g5's on music with very nice low end extension on about 750-800w rms with a tune of 32.5. I'd go with around 33hz, its a nice blend of loud and low.

this is what i used to use, sounded good, and was loud as hell.........2.5 inch port (dont remember lengths) think it ended up at 32htz ...........22d x 18h x 40w with 1 inch mdf all around

Ok so im going bigger but instead of 1.875 how many cuft are you thinking?
