what wire can withstand a lotta heat?

I use the kicker Hyperflex, but i got this covering it.

Idn about the plastic casing, I have it on all the wires/hoses in my engine bay for about a year now, even radiator hoses, and it hasn't even started to melt or show any signs of overheating besides getting dirty (never clean engine bay...). Couldn't hurt

The plastic loom doesn't really help for heat, its more for abrasion resistance. It would certainly melt if exposed to a hot exhaust pipe, just like the wire's jacket would.

so i need some flame retartant hoses yeah...and about the tape..lol it was a quick fix so i can drive the car home...thank goodness i didnt remove the original wires...oh did i mention my voltage went from 13.3 idle to 14.6 idle just adding the wires...no joke...

lmfao at this thread.....run your wires away from your exhaust, wire cant withstand that heat. and i hope that tape is temporary. was it fused? If so where was the fuse, by the batt or the alt, or in the middle.

x2 on the fuse, would've probably prevented any type of fire, unless it was started just by the exhaust heating up the wire jacket to the point of burning.. the fuse will blow if it grounds out or spikes.

You can get plastic looms that can take 500 degrees, but you should never run a wire on a heat source. That only allows you to run it near a heat source. My factory alt wires run right along the engine block to the bat only an inch away in its plastic loom.
