Never knew a system could do this...

Ok, so as most of you know, I have a 94 RX-7 and I watned to put some bump in the trunk. I added eDi 6500i's and a Nine.2 amp and the car/sound was great from them. Then I decided to add a sub and I got two 10W7's and a Nine.2x. I was only able to fit a single 10 in the trunk, so I decided to put the other 10W7 for sale.

After installing the 10W7 and Nine.2x I loved the sound, but when I was driving my car, I definatly can feel the difference in weight that the sub/box adds so now I'm debating if I want to sell this 10W7 too.

My dilema is, I want something close to the output/sq of the W7 but will be able to fit in a smaller box (sealed) and will be able to be powered by 600W @ 4ohms.

I'm guessing the sub/box added close to 100lbs to the car, but I'm just wondering what other options I would have out there. Possibly even dropping down to an 8 if necessary.

Sparknotes: A 600W setup, small sealed box, close to same output/sq as W7.

I can feel the difference. Usually when I get on the gas, the back end comes out and it doesn't. And then it doesn't get going until I reach full boost and usually it gets going right when I enter boost.

well i hate to say it but it's all in your head. cept maybe the back end getting out but drive like a normal person and you wont notice. I have 4 d34 optimas and a 4cube box with 2 massvie 10s in the back of my eagle talon and its barely noticeable if at all.

In extremely lightweight cars, you can definitely tell the difference even when not-so-heavy things are in the car.

In my old gti, i'd run 13.9 with a full tank of gas, and closer to 13.7 with 1/4 tank, not a big diff. in numbers, but when you're used to driving the car it's a big difference.

Try moving the sub closer to the center of the car. Fold down yer rear seats and put the sub on top of 'em, see if that doesn't help a whole lot. Weight toward the extreme rear of the car will make a lot of diff. in acceleration.

There are subs that will get louder than the W7, there are subs that will sound better, but you'll have a hard time finding one that does both better!

None the less that works in a smaller box.I think it's just in your head, and I HIGHLY doubt your combo weighs 100lbs.

It depends on the enclosure. I know that all my gear weighs well over 200 lbs (just the XXX is close to 70 without the box and the W7 weighs even more.) If you are used to driving a car at a certain weight and weight distribution, then what seem to be small changes in weight and balance can make for huge differences in the feel of the vehicle. Most people won't notice it but if you do know the difference, it will drive you nuts. This is the main reason the XXX is coming out of my car as soon as I get back from this deployment.

The RX-7 is a 50/50 weight balanced car, along with it being a VERY light car, around 2800lbs is what makes it an ideal sports car. Although I am going to be pushing around 500hp to the wheels later down the line, I can tell the difference. It is a sacrafice I'm going to have by having a sub in the trunk, but I didn't know it was going to make this big of a difference. I'm just looking for other setups. The system is going to be SQ, but at the same time I'd like the feel the pressure of SPL

I'm trying to fit the sub under my strut and the height for it is around 9in high, so I'm looking to do probably around an 8" or so.

A decent suggestion has been 4 700's in a 1ft^3 sealed box and 600W to them.
