Need your opinion on subs!

I recently had a 12 inch type r in a ported box powered by aa Alpine MRP-M500(500 watts rms x1)

I got my car broken into and the sub got jacked, but since the amp is installed under the driver seat i luckily still have it.

I'm looking to buy new subs but im not sure what exactly i want. Im thinking about just getting another type r and putting it in a ported box tuned at around 33 hz. However for about the same price i could get 2 10" kicker cvr's in a prefab ported box. What do you think would be better? or do you guys have any other recommendations. I'm looking to spend around $250 for the sub(s) and box.

woot for another washington guy.

Do you have any woodworking tools? if so, do some research and build your own box, you can do it for ~$50.

That leaves you a good $200 for a sub. Check out http://www.dcsoundlab.com for something not mainstream but KICK ***. are you looking to go 1 sub? 2 subs? 7?

Building my own box could be a possibility.

I don't need ridiculous subs though, because all i got is a 500 watt alpine am, but it definitely made my type r sound good.

you could always get another Type-R, but you were underpowering it with only that m500 (they take quite a bit more than their 500rms rating).

other then that, i would reccomend a DC soundlab's level2 or level3, sundown audio's SA 12

between a 12" type-R off ebay and building yer own box, you're only looking at ~$150-$175

Alright sounds good, so the 1 type r is probably going to be better than the 2 10" cvrs?

Type r seams to fit you application.

No sense in spending more on another woofer if you dont have the power to drive it.

thats a toss up really. It will be very comparable. If you wanna switch it up to two 10's, im sure you would be happy with that too, as long as you have room for a bigger box.

500 watts isn't enough for too much...i'd probably stick to the type R. And as stated above, just build your own box, and type r's go for like 120 on egay.
