my epic is reading 143db's with my current setting which i couldn't tell u since i didn't adjust the amp, a co-worker of mine did

try adjusting the amp with a dmm. Maybe, just maybe, he set the gains lower than he should have (the opposite is true most of the time).

Your question begs another question though... why? Do you honestly think you'd be happier with 1 more measely db? is it some sort of psychological thing for you?

well you could build a diff. box tuned a little higher idk. or try the one you have in diff. positions.

Try some different box positions, just keep moving and tweaking little things here and there and im sure you can get that 145.
