:confused:Ok so I dont know if I am getting the run around or wtf is going on. I currently have a kx700.5 it was pushing my front speakers which were mtxt5001 and the 3 way mtx 6x9's and 1 8l7. NOw my guy told me after blowing the fronts that I should step up to the $500 mtx 5 1/4 components there high end. He not installed them yet but now he is telling me that when my bass hits that it is taking power from my fronts that is what blew them. So I am wondering if you guys think it is the amp or the speakers. is what I am running crap and do I have to rip it all out and start over or what

i have the memphis belle. cant beat the power on the sub channel, best around in my opinion. ill be running a MAG 15" d2 and 2 kappa component sets 6.5" sub @ 1ohm components @ 2ohm.

I don't see how you managed to blow the fronts...

I'd go passive with the RSDs.... they go for less than $100...most members have 150w on it...

Where are you getting your signal from, OEM HU or aftermarket?

ok here is my whole system I have a pioneer dvd head unit with the nav and xm and tv tuner and what ever else that i could get put on it. I have well no fronts right now the mtx 6X9's 3 8l7s a kicker kx700.5 and a eclipse xa1000 I think i dont know to be honest. Then I have a kinetics battery it says it is the same as a 220 farad cap and this is all in a 94 deville

I know for a fact that none of my gains are set even close to half way. The whole thing I wanted to do is be able to get my music loud as heck and never have any kind of distortion or have to work the amp at all and keep everything at or below the rms rating for the speakers

he's just trying to talk you into a sale...get whatever you want up front, the 700.5 does 85x4, so your fine, don't buy the $500 set, you DO NOT need them. he is full of it, because the rear portion of the 700.5 is a MORE efficient class D, so your not pulling enough current to hurt you at all...

ok that is what I thought. Is the 5th channel enough to push the 8l7? So what speakers should I go with for 5 1/4 components. Now before every one rushes to tell me rsd's STOP my friend who told me about this page just got them and I dont want to be a dik and copy so suggestions other the rsd I guess someone says I am running 85 per channel up fron and I am willing to spend like 2 bills and I want great sq.

Yes. My KX700.5 birthsheet was 916rms. So, that would give you roughly 180x2 @ 4ohm + 490rms @ 2ohm or 90x4 @ 4ohm + 490rms @ 2ohm

I would suggest searching around in the speaker forum, but I would maybe look in a set of the Pioneer 720prs. They seem to get some great reviews.

You could also go active. You have the amplification to do it and with 200 bucks to spend on raw drivers it would probably be a better value. This also depends on your HU.

Ok I am trying to figure this whole active thing out. I know on my deck I can tweak the high lows and mids with turning levels up and down and the frequencys as well is that what I would use instead of a crossover then? I am sure for that question I was suppose to start a new thread or something I am just new to this whole deal and trying to fiugre everything out. Thank you everyone for being paitent with me
