need to power 2 12w7's help!

This is kinda easy in a way. You dont really need a two channel amp. You can look on ebay for a Hifonics bx1500D amplifier that puts out 1500watts rms at 1ohm mono. With two w7's you could a 1.5 ohm load and with them only being 12" then I think this would do nicely. Also the amount of power you send them greatly depends on the size of the box and what type. Tell us what size box and whether it will be ported or sealed and we'll be able to better give you a choice.

Yeah you don't need a two channel amp btw, just a subwoofer mono...

two lanzar vibe 1200d's will provide that kinda power in your budget. or a single mtx thunder 1501d (probably better than the two lanzars) ebay is the only place to find them cheap enough.

there are probably other good ones out there but that's what i could find in a quick search.

good luck!

ps why 2 w7's and no money left for amps? :p

Yes you could also do this if you can find the Vibe 1200d's. They should do about 95% of the power they are rated for. My Friend bought a Lanzar Vibe 258 for two Pioneer Premier subs and its prolly feeding them about 600 rms a peice at 4 ohms bridged. Theyre good amps for the money so I would say the 1200d would do at least 1000 watts at 1 ohm.

Edit- I found a full review of it at carsound.com complete with performance charts.

I was also wrong, the amp will do exactly what it says it will do.

well i won these items off ebay no less but unfortunately didnt think too far ahead when i actually paid for the items in thinking how to power them.

but i am planning on putting them both into a custom box bassed on the specifications given by jl. i was going to use the sloted box if i could find the space in my trunk but i might have to rely on a sealed for space sake. im not sure about the exact specs but they are on the website.

these subs have a 3ohm impedence though, does it make a huge difference in sound quality and volume if the impedence rating is lower or higher? (im still kinda new to alot of the details)
