Need Time alignment help with H701.

I have been running the h701 for a little while now, and i am getting used to it now. I spend 30-45 minutes everyday tuning it. I am just tuning it by ear to what sounds good to me. I am trying to find out how to do time alignment on this processor. Is there a 'Auto Alignment' feature i could use? I do have a mic so please provide some input on how to accomplish this task.

I thought it came with a mic but auto tune for T/A usually blows.

The best way for SQ ......

1) turn all T/A controls to 0, find a track that has a strong centered male voice. I use the MECA test disk - put the track on repeat

2) go to the setup menu and turn off everything but the mids

3) use the level setting on the crossover menu to center it up

4) repeat for tweeters

5) repeat for midbass if you have them

5a) play with the phase for each speaker to see if it make the image more defined or more diffuse

6) now turn on the mid and tweets only

7) turn the fader all the way to the right, listen to the voice. Try and get the sibilance (like "s" and "t") to sound like they are coming from the same place.

8) turn on the midbass if you have it and do the same, try and get the voice to come from one place on the far right

9) now turn off everything but the mids and put the fader back to center

10) go to the T/A and adjust the left mid until the voice is centered

11) repeat for tweeters (with all other speakers off), remember to START with the setting for the right tweeter

12) repeat for midbass

13 turn on all the speakers and adjust the bass T/A until it blends and sounds like it's coming from the front (or at least not puklling the stage to the rear)

This should be a big step in the right direction

Tips for amp hookup to the H701:

Front 1 = tweeters

Front 2 = midbass (if you have them)

Rear = midrange

these connectuions will allow you to make out of range adjustments to the EQ

ummm ... that's the order I put them in, if you actually followed thru it.

If you use t/a to center up an image that is not fairly well centered up thru balance, it will never sound right.

OP ... once you get done with the basic setup I outlined, let me know and I will email you a compressed CD that has 1/3 octave pink noise tones. You burn it on to a CD and use it to center up each 1/3 octave band individually.
