Need subwoofer recommendations

Hi all,

I need inputs from all of you experts here.

My current subwoofer set up is a single 12" Alpine Type-S in a ported box and I must say that the sound quality produced from this sub, in terms of boom and deep, is not what I expected. So, I'm seriously thinking to replace the Type-S with another. From the search that I did, it looks like that my candidate falls on a JL sub.

Now my question is, which type from JL would you all recommend? Please keep in mind that I'm going to use a single 12", I listen mostly to trance music (Tiesto, Blank and Jones, ATB, etc) with occasional pop and jazz, and I'm looking for a boomy and deep sound quality.

what kind of sub amp do you have?

what kind of ported box is it? you may just need a better box made that's tuned lower.

what tuning?

you can do just as well as JL with much less money
