need sub help

Okay, I have a pioneer receiver and the manual says:

subwoofer continuous power = 100w @ 6 ohms

subwoofer rms power = 125w @ 6 ohms

subwoofer music power = 167w @ 6 ohms

The 6.5" sub with it doesn't sound bad and gets loud for what it is. My question is what sub should I buy that has more output than the current 6.5"? Do I need to find a 6 ohms sub, can I run it at 4 ohms, or should I run it at 8 ohms. I'm not looking for anything fancy, just something cheap that is louder than what I have now. Uhh, I dont see why it would hurt anything to run it at either 8 or 4 ohms. Check there might be a place to set it to run for 8 ohms. As for the sub, most good subs are powered and all you need is a pre-amp out for them. How much are you looking at spending, how much output are you looking for, and how much quality do you need are all things you need to ask your self.

I have 2 Sony 12" powered subs on my home theater. They sound good, home recievers are the same as car amps. They will run hotter if you dont have the recomended impendance load. Most home speakers ar at 8ohms, never seen 6ohm though.

Yeah I wasn't looking to spend much $50- $75. I don't want a powered sub as the receiver has a sub channel with 100- 125 watts. I've never seen 6 ohms either must be a Pioneer thing. I'd like to run it at 4 ohms but I don't want to kill it.

Hmmm, 6 ohm sub, i havnt seen many subs configured liek that except a Jl W7 i saw.
