i have built several of these into 10s and they are strong. i dont know the measurments off hand though. the gap is tight!!!! one of them i bored the top plate for a better coil...

yeah ive heard the motor can take some hell, thats why im wanting to recone it into a level 4xl or something along those lines

for it to be a good sub the top plate needs to be removed and bored so a good 4 layer coil will fit in there...

4 layer coil? hell my SA 12's have an 8 layer coil

yes but ur sa's have a 2.5" coil. they are also built for a 8 layer coil. a GOOD 4 layer alum coil will handle 1500rms all day. take ur sub apart and look at the gap its really tight. you can get a 4 layer flat wound coil that will fit but its soooo tight dont play music or it could rub. trust me i know these motors really well and the top plate needs to be bored out. you pop it off (hard than it sounds on these subs) chuck it up and take .080 off with a boring bar....

yeah the gap on my SA12's was much bigger than this motor thats for sure, im gonna send the sub off to dc and let rusty have a go at it

bet he says nothing he can do with it. if he sends it out to a machine shop it will cost big coin...
