Need some input for Boat Audio.

I am aware this is not the "Boat" audio forums but I do know you guys are very knowledgeable, and I am out of the loop with this.

I am looking to put a Stereo on my boat I already have a head unit, but I want to replace the speakers and install a Sub.

I am looking at a 5 ch amp with 4 x 6.5" coaxials and one 10" sub.

Goals are obviously loud, and as clear as possible, Budget is $700 or less.

I will be using a Car Amplifier as it will be mounted inside the Boat away from any water intrusion or moisture.

Cheers,

Paul

howdy. what boat? what motor? what alternator? the challenge with some boats is an outboard motor has a tiny alt that won't support an audio system. cabin cruizers with a proper V8 can have a decent alt available. i've put solar panels on boats to supplement the outboard motor alt and allow charging without shore power.

here's a cabin cruizer i did with Powerbass speakers and amp

Kenwood headunit and Powerbass ASA 600.4 amp. owner had the option of covering the amp wiring with a beauty panel, but opted for accessible wiring. this could be dressed-up nicer.

Nice installs, boats a 268 Sundancer 1986 with a 260/alpha I'm going to have either a 2 or 3 battery bank to run the stereo while in the cover also a generator to run the stereo for longer periods, I have a shore power hookup so it makes it a bit easier.

looks like a cabin cruizer. similar rules apply. give yourself speakers dedicated to the driver's seat. separate speakers for the rear passengers. and possibly separate speakers for the cabin. i was impressed with the Powerbass speakers and had a contact in the company that gave me confidence. the clarion speakers were destroyed by sun after a few years. JL Audio and Alpine have nice marine options. or you can just buy regular speakers and replace as needed.
