I have a rockford fosgate 801s amp and i just ordered a 15" kicker L7 (2 ohm) and i got an email from the place i ordered it from saying to make sure that i have a 1 ohm stable amplifier. I am planning on bridging the amp and then wiring the sub in series so that it will have a 4 ohm load. I was wondering if the amplifier i have will work with the sub.

Rockford Fosgate 801s

200 watts RMS x 2 at 4 ohms

400 watts RMS x 2 at 2 ohms

800 watts RMS x 1 bridged output at 4 ohms

It will work fine. As you seem to already know, one 2 ohm dual voice coil sub can be wired a 1 ohm or at 4 ohms. Because you're plan is to bridge the amp at 4ohms, you're plan is fine. If you're sub was a dual 4 ohm voice coil sub, then you would have a problem, but it isn't.

yeah ur fine. but u'll only be feeding the sub 800 watts rms. which they can handle a lot lot more...but u'll be alright. i'd buy like a bx1500d or 1000d cheap prices on ebay. and a lot more power!

thanks for the info

i just got an email from the plce i ordered the sub and they said its out of stock. Would a 4 ohm L7 work with that amp? and what would happen if i hooked it up?

no it wouldnt work...because a dual 4 ohm sub would be wired in either 2 ohms or 8 ohms. and u'd be barely be pushing ne power to that sub....since ur only gonna be giving it 800 watts rms i'd buy a 12" over a 15" u wont feed the 15 enough
