OK, I need help with system setup. For example you have 4 channel amp. can one connect 2 front channels to front speakers at 4 ohm impendance, and bridge 3rd and 4th channels for the sub at 2 ohm?

I think I know the answer, but I'd like to be 100% sure.

thanks

Well you are close, it depends on the amp, but i don't think many 4ch amps can be bridged to 2ohm mono(which is what it would be with a sub) But otherwise you could do it.

Which amp are you talking about? Knowing that, we could answer your specific question.
that's the problem, I still haven't decided. If you know any particular amp with about 75 rms per channel, please tell me more about it.

thanks

us acoustics 4085 85 watt rms x 4 ohms. you can pick one up for well under $200 mybe in the $150 range. very nice amps i currently run the 4065 and it is perfect for my cdt-cl51's and they are also underrated. not sure if it is bridgable down to 2 ohms but it is certainly an amp you should look into

To be able to do what you want to do, you need an amp that is 1 ohm stereo stable. As was mentioned earlier, not many are. The Soundstream Rubicon 604 might fill the bill. The older Reference 604 would be much better, but you would have to find one used. I'm sure that there are others out there.
