I'm looking to get a box for a reasonable price. i'm not sure whats low/high-end products. the sub i'm going to use is te audiobahn awt12x. not sure about ported, sealed or whatnot. your input will be appreciated. thanks

i'm going to be using a Hifonics 1605d

depends on what you want....tell us what you listen to, how loud you want it to be, what amp you are running the sub on, etc. and ill let you know. I can build a box for you for an alright price. give me a PM if youre interested

You listen to classical music and you bought a 12 inch Audiobahn woofer??? You seriously need to re-evaluate your subwoofer decision. Get something that's designed more for sound quality - Audiobahn is trash.

no offence but u need to atleast listen to something like rap or rock to have a sub in ur car
I'm sorry, but that's wrong //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Classical/baroque music often times has more subsonic content in it than rap does...it's just lower in frequency and actually is more demanding on a system to reproduce correctly.

I use orchestral tracks to test my systems...because nothing else can top it for dynamic range and yes, deep subbass content. Listen to something like Telarc's version of the 1812 Overture and tell me you don't need a powerful subbass stage to keep up...or TSO's Carol of the Bells, for more modern orchestra stuff.

I do agree that the choice of Audiobahn was the wrong one, though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

my friend has a 12 aw1206t in his car and it hits hard with a audiobahn mono 550 amp so i dont think audiobahn is trash, i have 2 6.5 audibahns in my front door panels..i know most people diss agree with that..

Audiobahn does make hard-hitting woofers, but they are also some of the worst sounding woofers I've ever heard. On top of that, Audiobahn woofers have a tendency to blow easily.

Classical requires a lot of bass response, but it also requires a lot of CLEAN bass response. I can't imagine listening to Bethoven with a 12" Audiobahn in the trunk... that would be hideous.

for everyone who ansered about the classical, i was just joking. i guess some people DO actually listen to that.

"i listen to classical, and i want it to be somewhere beteween 1-50 db."

and yea the sub is garbage but hey it was cheap as monkey sh*t. it's a 12" and is 49 1/2 LBS. So what would be a reasonable price for a box like this?

Just find a friend who has a circular/table saw and a router/rotozip/dremel and build a box. Should only take about 40 bucks worth of supplies if you want to go sealed. Seeing as how it is an Audiobahn you may as well go ported.... in which case it wouldn't take much more $$ to build it yourself.

My answer: No matter what you do, you will get hosed if you have someone else build it.
