ok so i have a 2006 gmc extended cab truck. and im looking for some great sound and bass to go in it.. now i do not know much about this stuff. and i would like some help on what to get. some one suggested some polk door speakers jl sub and alpine 1100 amp. but me im not really sure what im looking at when they say that. so any suggestions for me and what i need to buy?

what you should get is some extremely well front stage speakers. For an example, many Aura speakers are great, the rear speakers are simply filler, so maybe some cheaper subs, like Focal, Alpine type r's are fine. and then a four channel amp to power them up.

if you want subs, since your in a truck, your limited with space. you may want to look into a shallow mount subwoofer.

Ummmm since when is Focal cheap? and no dont go with type R's...

i see. go with the RE XXX components for your front stage. for the rear, go with the RE 6X9, or whatever rear size you have.

these provide huge mid bass and clarity. also, try and get a 4 channel amp that can support them. each one of those speakers can take 200 rms. these are some of the top of the line speakers. ive heard them, and want them dearly.

you'll neeed a beefy four channel amp to power them.

i have one for sale, but thats just a suggestion.

Not really lol... they make good stuff but are very $$$... Give us a budget and a goal OP so we will get ya set up...
RE components and coaxials? theyre great. yes theyre pricey, but you get what you pay for..buddy was putting 250 rms to some 6.5s, incredible.

coaxials and components aren't all that different,

the components have the speaker and tweeter separate for mounting.

the tweeter in most front stage application will be in the upper door area, or in the windshield pillar, this is because the highs will be closest to your ears, where as in a coaxial, the tweeter is mounted within the speaker, allowing for an easier installation, for like i said, rear stage is simply a filler for depth.
