Ok so heres the scoops. Get 2 Type ARRRR 10's that tryin to build a box for. Goal was for 3cubes net after all disp. tuned to 30hz. Well my ingenius self built the box and didnt take into account the freekin trunk opening!! Sooo I have to build 2 smaller boxes to make it work. This is the best design i could come up with.. its just a tad under 1.5 after disp. again tuned at 30, subs firing to the side and port back. My biggest concern is the distance between the basket and the port wall. Its marginally less than the port width. Car is a 95 Accord, powering em with zx1000.1 @ 2ohms(2subs) max dimensions are 33wX19dX16h but again have to be broken into two boxes to fit. So 16.5wX19dX16h outside dimensions per box.

Any critique or better ideas would be appreciated..thanks

It is mathematically impossible for that enclosure to be 1.5 cubic feet net.
Care to explain? By my calculations i have this:

15" x 17.5" x 14.5" = 2.2 net before disp. Port is 1.75" x 14.5" x 46.25 = .68 and sub is .05. 2.2 - .73=1.47 cubes net...did I screw something up??

(Not being a smart ass BTW)

Basscort, thats problem im rnning into, i have less than an inch from the end of the driver to the port wall... I cannot move it to the other side of the port due to space limitations..

thanks for replies

30hz tuning will sound okay, but type R's don't like low tunings all that much. i thought mine sounded better at 35 than 32, going against the "lower tuning sounds better" rule.

you will destroy the sub if it cannot vent at the pole it will cook

and u need to use inside dimensions not outside to get internal volume there sport //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

you have 17.5 x 15 x 13.75 internal so at best 1.35cf net

if my external dimensions are 16.5 x 19 x 16 wouldnt that make my internal 15 x 17.5 x 14.5??? or am i missing something?

thank you for the info on the venting for the pole...thats what i didnt know and didnt want to find out the hard way.

Im obviously doing something wrong in my calculations if you guys are all coming up with something different than me..lol

SicAudio told you what was off with the calculations here:

you will destroy the sub if it cannot vent at the pole it will cook
and u need to use inside dimensions not outside to get internal volume there sport //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Can you mount them inverted? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

but thats what im tryin to find out..not doubting him but if its not explained i dont know what im doing wrong... and no I cant invert the subs unfortunately

Invert mount will give you more internal space as well as give the pole room to breathe. Good solution assuming the woofer can fit that way.
weird how your quote of me didn't show the part you were referring to //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif lol, whacky cacom.

And he said why it was wrong OP, he said that you were using the outside dimensions, not accounting for the displacement of the outer walls. You need to use internal dimensions.

NEVERMIND, your calculations are right.

Sicaudio, his height measurement doesn't account for the top panel since it is not drawn. Therefore you only need to subtract .75 from that figure.
