I have plastered this board with questions over the last few weeks. I am very close to making a decision on what to do, just need some input from you guys. I have a 97 Toyota 4runner with a Kenwood HU, Rockford Fosgate 360a2 amp (7-8 years old, although it sat for close to half that time), and 2 10 inch JBL GTO1004D subs (250 watts rms each, about a month old). The subs are in a sealed box matched to space requirements. I am trying to achieve SQ. I have never heard a good system, so I dont know if the things I will suggest will make a difference, which is the reason for this post. I keep my 2 10's turned way down, and a single sub setup would probably fit me better, however, it is no problem just to keep the 10's turned down. I am pretty satisfied with what I have, but I do think I could improve it a little. OK, enough with the history, now to the point.
Option 1: Keep my current setup.
Option 2: Buy a new amp that would put out closer to the max rms of those subs, probably an Alpine that does 400 watts x1 bridged.
Option 3: Go with a single 10 inch sub, probably an ID10v3.
I would like not to spend money, but I want a good system, so I need to know if options 2 or 3 would help much. My budget is 200 for the amp, or for a sub and box. Thanks for any input.
