I haven't kept up with car audio for a few years (so long I don't remember my old forum name here lol), so I'm a bit lost on my search for a new sub. I'm replacing my old Image Dynamics ID12 with bigger and better (hopefully). I do want more spl, so a bigger sub pushing more air in a bigger box at about 2x my current power will do I think, but I want to maintain good SQ.

I could stick with ID, but want to know other options that you guys think are quality. People used to talk highly about ID, ED, RE, Adire (out of business?), top of the line Alpine, but I have no clue now. I'd like to keep the sub around $200 and get good bang for the buck. If I've left out any important info, please let me know. Thanks!

SO your planning on having a new box built and getting a amp that does 1200wrms?

IF thats the case i would say sundown SA-15, FI SSD 15, or skar 15 or obsidian 15

sa15 and skar can be found at ssaudio.com in the store

google FI audio for there site

google obsidian audio for there site

All subs $160-220shipped

If you want to stay with that amp i belive the SSA DCONs like about 450-500wrms and they make a 15. Hear really great things about them as well, there all on ssa's store

Yes new box, but sorry I was a bit unclear as for power. My current Cadence amp is 300w, I have another that I'll use that is 600w (bridged at 4ohm).

And I should mention I'm thinking single 15" at 600w because I had a similar combo in this car years ago. It was I think a Dayton 15" (thought of as a home audio sub I guess), 4 cu ft box sealed, 600w. I can't afford to go with that big a box now. I will consider other options than a single 15" sealed, it's just kinda what I know sounded great in the car. But I also know that's a way too generalized rationale lol.

I think youd love the setup I mentioned then...

IMO (a lot of ppl going to hate) JL subs are some of the best subs for sealed enclosures!! If you can find a w6 (not going to be cheap) you'll be golden! They sound soooo good!!
Avoid jl unless it's dirt cheap. I'm easily impressed by loud clean bass and out of the some 10 jl sub stages I've heard, I only liked 1 setup for what it was. 2 12w1s and a jx500/1. Must've been the box or something but I still think it was sound that could be had for a bit cheaper.
