Need recommendation on speaker wire

I need about 6 feet of speaker wire. Any suggestions? Can I pick something up at my local hardware store for this? It would be much easier than ordering it online....unless there is a substantial difference?

Setup:

Amp: MTX RT500D

Sub: Sundown Audio SD-2 Dual 4 Ohm 8"

For a sub, yes, 12 ga lamp cord can be used as a substitute for a short run like that.
