Well I have a 20"x12"ish hole in my rear deck. The sheetmetal and the actual panel have been cut threw already. I've done some different things with it over the last couple years but i'm still not satisfied. It's presently covered in a "breathable" type meterial so it's all uniform. My biggest concern with my existing setup is that the carpet is starting to sag over the hole. So i'll need something sturdy to cover it. ie not a carpet like meterial.

I'd really like a bigger oval grill to somehow incorporate it into said panel. I've searched around ebay for grills that fit other cars but have came up empty.

I was also thinking I could buy 2 8" or 10" grilles (not the waffle kind) and flush mount/top mount them into the rear deck. I have tint so it wouldn't be that noticable.

Like these:

eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices

Not these:

** NEW PAIR ** 8" Metal Waffle Speaker Grill Cover Waffle Steel Black | eBay

I'd like to recover the deck with the factory type carpet and just mount/fab the grilles into the existing hole for the added air movement.

Ideas?

Make your own grill, cut out the frame in 3/4" MDF and wrap it in speaker grill cloth. Did that for a Caddy a few years ago.
You going to be at the Hammond show on the 15th?
That has crossed my mind. But does the speaker cloth tend to sag after a while? That's my biggest concern.

I don't go to shows, just not my thing. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

cover it in albino crocodile....
You first.

What I've done in that situation is get some perforated metal sheet from Home Depot and cover the hole, then use standard headliner fabric on top of that so it matches the car's interior. The sheets are very thin, but you might have to be clever if you want to hide the transition.

No, you stretch it tight over and staple it on th backside. Will stay tight forever that way.

Ok, serious question time: why don't you go to shows? You don't have to compete, but you can hang out with other peeps into car audio, hear their ****, play your ****, whatever. It's a good time.

And you stay in Chitown and have never been to a WGCI show...

I'm up by Six Flags if you need me to make you a grill for that. Wouldn't cost much or take much time to do...

I can make it, just have to figure out what direction I want to go. I'm really anal when it comes to modifying my interior so it's gotta be perfect.

I think the biggest reason for me not attending said events is that it would prob make me want to dump more money into my stereo. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif And to be honest, my moniez are starting to go into other things.

P.s. I reside in G-lake neighbor //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I'm in Beach Park, bring that hooptie by and I'll make you a nice looking grill.

Shows are a LOT of fun, you really need to attend one just to hang out and see what it's all about. Forums are good for killing time in between shows and during the off season...
